I’m a dreamer. I have big ideas. I usually don’t do anything with them because they’re, well, too big. Business plans, best-selling book plots, world-saving efforts. Grandiose, I know. Sometimes that big thinking encroaches into unsuspecting arenas. It happened this weekend.
It started as a simple evening with friends. Takeout, talking, maybe the water table for the kiddos. The usual. Enter the big thinking and hot weather predictions and here’s what happens:

A backyard toddler heaven, right? It started with the pool and grew from there. (You can’t even see the pool filled with balls or the slip-n-slide!) I had a blast adding to the collection as the afternoon went on…I went through the house and garage finding outdoor-worthy toys. Jen F. got in the mood, too, and added some of Kina’s great stuff!
The yard got even more fun — and lively — when we added the kiddos! Sophia, Kina, Emmerson, Delaney, Maya, Nora and sweet little Nell had a good ol’ time playing in the water, throwing balls, laughing and running away from their mamas. (Well, Nell didn’t really do any of that, but she did get in a lot of snuggle time!)

The kids were extra photogenic, so I took a ton of great pictures. And I mean seriously great pictures. Here are a few samples!

Sophia and I would love to recreate the backyard oasis again, so if you couldn’t join in the fun this weekend, there will be definitely be more opportunities! (The more the merrier!) Who knows what we’ll add to the backyard next time?! Oh, the ideas…

I love it – all of it! Thanks for such an awesome day that I needed so very much. We are there any time you want to recreate such an epic event!
oh, we want to play! P and I had our own little party with the hose, but still a blast!
Let me know when you do this again! I’d love to join you guys with Elia sometime. We’ll bring some fun water stuff…we have quite the collection too !
Okay, you’ve got to tell me how you got Sophia’s hair like that – all those beautiful curls! Did you use a special shampoo/conditioner? I don’t have a clue, and my Olivia’s hair will be getting to the point soon that I need to learn to do something with it!
